I began developing my photos like I mentioned before and the photos I have been posting are from my first couple rolls I’ve shot on my new Ricoh GR1v. The camera made famous by Daido Moriyama has easily become one of my main street cameras. I definitely use it more than anything other camera I have mainly because of it’s simplicity. Unlike the previous models, GR1 and the GR1s, this one allows you to manually set your ISO giving me the option to push my film. So far all the photos I’ve posted from it were shot on TMax 400 push processed two stops to 1600. The results are sharp, high contrast photos with a beautiful film grain. I feel like this camera shines the most at night.
Aside from the technical camera talk, I’ve felt so inspired and encouraged these days by some of the amazing street photographers I follow on tumblr. My joy to shoot just keeps on growing. Photography is an art form that is just so… in reach! Any and everyone can simply just grab a camera and start snapping away. Nobody sees the same things in the same way, there can never be too many photographers, or should I say, modern historians. I want to see photos of daily life, culture, friends. And I want to share the same.
Unfortunately with my work schedule I don’t get a lot of time out while the sun is up. Guess I’m gonna have to shoot even more on the weekends, get outside and soak up the light! Developing has been a lot of fun but now I need a decent film scanner. Anyone got a film scanner they can recommend?
Take it easy friends.
